AV’s capacity to innovate has produced unique solutions for OEC that has allowed us to maintain our competitive advantage and continue our success into our second century.”
Brad Vette, Corporate Director of Business Development of OEC Graphics.
OEC Graphics is a third-generation family-owned company, founded in 1912. With over a century of experience, OEC is the largest and oldest privately-held premedia company in North America. Having implemented AV Flexologic’s Optimount 3000 many years ago, OEC has continued to increase its use within their organization as they have expanded their capacity corporately. The Optimount not only gives them capacity but also higher quality.
REAL-TIME VIDEO THE OPTIMOUNT
The Optimount is Flexologic’s motorized mounting machine, used for mounting plates onto mylars in the corrugated industry. The video above shows how an operator mounts 5 plates in roughly 7 minutes, including the application of proofing paper on proofing drum.
The mounting process with the Optimount is extremely easy and requires minimal training to operate the machine. The automatic positioning of both cameras and cylinders, simplifies the mounting job, which improves and accelerates results considerably. Moreover, each mounting position can be reached in seconds. The exact position is stored and can be recalled at any time. This eliminates the setup process of previous systems.
UNIQUE FEATURES OF THE OPTIMOUNT
Overlay system (patented)
On the monitor, the operator has a choice of hairlines. For instance single crosses, double movable lines, sizable circles, combinations or a photo of the register marks of the first colour that appears faded on the monitor to mount image on image (overlay system). Photos of each mounted register mark can be taken and displayed afterwards as proof for correct mounting.
A fixed one-size-fits-all mounting cylinder that is directly driven by means of a computer controlled electronic motor. The Postprint software automatically calculates any distortion based on the information provided in the job (mylar thickness, etc.). Distortion is then digitally compensated. Therefore, one mounting drum is suitable for all presses.
HD Ethernet Cameras
The cameras have a resolution of 2560×1600. New lenses are included and standard magnification of the new lenses is 42x. The digital zooming possibility and high resolution, combined with the HD 40” flatscreen monitor, make it possible to increase magnification up to 170x.
Touchscreen monitor enables quick and easy job entry and job retrieval.
