Service & Support Manager - LATAM

Based in São Paulo, Brazil  |  Full-time  |  Extensive regional travel

Position Summary

AV Flexologic B.V. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join its global Service & Support division, based in São Paulo, Brazil. This role provides on-site installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for AV Flexologic equipment at customer sites across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, and Central America. The successful candidate will work closely with the Service & Support coordination team (Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands) and the Monterrey and Bangkok offices to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery across the region.

Engagement structure

This role is structured as an independent contractor engagement: the engineer will operate through their own Brazilian legal entity (CNPJ / "PJ" — pessoa jurídica) and issue a monthly invoice (nota fiscal) to AV Flexologic for services rendered, rather than being hired as a CLT employee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, and repair of AV Flexologic equipment at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in the field, escalating to engineering or product specialists as needed.
  • Travel regularly within the São Paulo area and across Brazil, as well as to Argentina, Chile, and Central America, for scheduled and emergency service visits.
  • Provide clear, timely reporting on service visits, parts usage, and customer feedback to the Service & Support coordination team.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, distributors, and internal stakeholders in Portuguese, Spanish, and English.
  • Support training of local customer technicians where applicable.
  • Maintain assigned company equipment (vehicle, tools, laptop, phone) in good working order.

Travel Requirements

This is a field-based, travel-intensive role. Expected travel coverage includes:

  • São Paulo metropolitan area and state (base region, most frequent travel)
  • Other regions of Brazil, as service demand requires
  • Argentina and Chile
  • Central America ("Middle America")

Travel frequency will vary by season and customer install base; candidates should expect travel for a significant portion of working time, including multi-day international trips. A valid passport and the ability to obtain visas/work authorizations for the above countries is required.

Candidate Requirements

  • Technical degree or vocational qualification in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or industrial engineering (or equivalent hands-on field service experience).
  • Prior experience in field service, industrial equipment maintenance, or a similar customer-facing technical role.
  • Fluent Portuguese (native/near-native) and working proficiency in English required; Spanish strongly preferred given Argentina/Chile/Central America coverage.
  • Valid driver's license; comfortable with frequent independent travel.
  • Strong troubleshooting mindset, customer service orientation, and ability to work autonomously in the field.

Service Availability & Extra Hours

Expected availability

Equivalent to 40 hours per week

Extra hours beyond scope

Additional hours may be billed as an extra line item on the monthly invoice, or offset with reduced availability in a following period, as agreed between the parties.

Downtime & Public Holidays

Agreed annual downtime

20–25 business days per year with no invoice reduction, by mutual agreement (contractual, not statutory)

National public holidays

9 fixed federal holidays, plus movable holidays (see list below) — no service expected, no invoice reduction

Brazilian national (federal) holidays

  • January 1 – New Year's Day
  • April 21 – Tiradentes Day
  • May 1 – Labour Day
  • September 7 – Independence Day
  • October 12 – Our Lady of Aparecida (Patron Saint of Brazil)
  • November 2 – All Souls' Day
  • November 15 – Republic Proclamation Day
  • November 20 – National Black Consciousness Day (federal holiday since 2024)
  • December 25 – Christmas Day

In addition, Good Friday and Corpus Christi are movable, date-dependent observances, and Carnival (February/March) is technically an optional "ponto facultativo" day rather than a mandatory holiday — in practice, it is observed by the vast majority of Brazilian employers. State and municipal holidays (e.g., São Paulo city/state-specific dates) may add further non-working days depending on exact work location. On request holidays can be traded for work days in mutual agreement.

Compensation (Monthly Invoice)

Monthly invoice amount (indicative)

Based on experience level

Travel expenses

Covered by AV Flexologic for company travel.

Equipment Provided

  • Company credit card for business/travel expenses
  • Company mobile phone
  • Company laptop
  • Company vehicle — to be assessed based on actual travel patterns and territory size; if not provided, a vehicle/mileage allowance will apply for local travel
