Features
Fully Automatic Mounting
The FAMM fully automatically positions the plates with an accuracy of 2 microns. The plates are mounted in 29 seconds, including a quality report.
Backlight System
The third generation of SAMM features backlight technology for improved image recognition of mounting marks, offering optimal illumination for its ultra-high-definition monochrome cameras. The backlight system enhances plate positioning accuracy, increasing SAMM 3.0's precision and efficiency.
Conveyor Belt
New split conveyor belt with an option to identify the plate from the bottom by reading QR Codes. The conveyor backlight and laser line allows plates to be aligned easier.
Robotic Manipulator
The manipulator takes hold of the flexo plate and positions it perfectly for assembly. The operator is only required to load the plates onto the conveyor belt.
Two Automatic Pressure Rollers (Patent Pending)
The top pressure roller secures half of the plate, while the mandrel gracefully lowers to ensure that the second pressure roller can firmly mount the remaining portion. In the meantime, the pick-up unit efficiently prepares the next plate, ready for seamless mounting and optimal productivity.
Automatic Linear Motors (Patent Pending)
Advanced automatic linear motors allow for swift plate transfer and accurate positioning, making the quality control process three times more efficient.
Automatic Mandrel Rotation
The mandrel performs coordinated movements and rotates independently, enabling installation without operator intervention. After the installation process, the mandrel disengages automatically.
LED Light Sensors
The FAMM software intelligently detects any inconsistencies during the installation process. A green light means "active", a yellow light indicates "advisory" while a red light signifies "error".
Quality report
The mounting marks are checked and a PDF is automatically created with the measurements of the Image Recognition.
Options
Robotic Loading of Sleeves
The FAMM 3.0 features robotic loading of sleeves. The robotic arm handles the sleeve and applies tape automatically. Then, it loads the sleeve on the air mandrel. The whole pre-press workflow is automated and eliminates any operator related mistakes.
Automatic Plate ID Verification
The FAMM 3.0 is equipped with a split conveyor belt that allows the plate ID verification using QR Codes.
Automatic EasyReg Detection
Using our patented image recognition system, a visual mark on the edge of a sleeve such as the W&H EasyReg strip can be automatically 'set to zero' on the MOM, SAMM, and FAMM mounting machines by simply pushing a button. The camera automatically homes in on the EasyReg mark and also automatically 'sets zero' in the X and Y direction with a 0.001mm (1µ)
Barcode and QR Code Scanner
A barcode/QR code scanner can be optionally added to the MOM; SAMM or FAMM for automatic loading of the jobs. The jobs are then usually made offline in prepress to optimize the machine Operation Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

Amcor's Story with Us
Amcor has been working with AV Flexologic for over 15 years. The machines are placed all over the world in their different offices.
In 2011, I traveled to Cumbria to see the FAMM in action at the SGS plant that serviced Amcor in the region. I was instantly intrigued by the simplicity and incredibly efficient output of the FAMM. I then traveled to Holland and viewed two FAMMs in operation at Elopak; again, the output was incredible.
Elopak's Journey with Us
Elopak supplies over 800 markets and they are currently using 3 FAMMs in their plant in the Netherlands. They only use one operator for the 3 machines per shift.
Since the installation, the output and quality have been as expected. We mount approximately 1,000 sleeves per week, and mounting is considered an important part of the printing job. In the past, misregistration often caused press downtime. Now, our mounting results are consistent and precise.
