Martijn Otten wins Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs award 2026

We are proud to share that our CEO has received the Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs, an award that recognizes engineers who make a meaningful impact through innovation, technical expertise, and societal contribution. In his own words, he reflects on what this recognition means.

"Proud to have received the Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs.

Each year the Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs highlights the impact engineers have on our society. Named after Prince Friso, who had a deep passion for technology and innovation, the award is presented to an engineer who excels in expertise, innovation, entrepreneurship, and societal impact. I’m incredibly honored to receive this year’s award.

It was a special moment to celebrate this together with the engineering community at KIVI, and to receive the award from the hands of Princess Mabel and Princess Beatrix. I’m also honored to receive this award in recognition of Prince Friso’s legacy.

For me, this award is not about one person. It represents the work of many talented engineers, colleagues, and friends I’ve had the privilege to work with over the years. None of the projects I’m involved in would exist without the dedication, creativity, and persistence of these teams.

Engineers form the foundation for economic growth, infrastructure, and technological innovation. They translate scientific knowledge into practical systems — machines, infrastructure, energy systems, and technology — that improve quality of life, maintain safety, and help solve complex challenges. Engineers often work behind the scenes, but they are truly the backbone of our society.

Most of all, a huge thank you to all the teams I’ve worked with over the years at AV Flexologic B.V., Tech Sleeves®, and Color Control. This award is a testament to the technology and innovation we have built together. None of this would have been possible without your talent, creativity, and dedication.

At the same time, we should never forget that a major war is ongoing in Europe. The people of Ukraine are fighting not only for their own freedom, but also for the values and freedoms we share. Through our foundation Protect Ukraine, we support them in a very concrete way — directly at the front lines — helping to save lives, also through technical and engineering solutions. Their fight is our freedom.

Over the coming year, I’m proud to serve as an ambassador for the engineering profession. I hope to use this platform to highlight the incredible work engineers are doing and to inspire more young people to pursue careers in engineering and technology."
